Kayla was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Her love of soccer is what initially brought her to play soccer in college in North Carolina, but her introduction to the wonderful field of speech-language pathology is what convinced her to stay. She attended Western Carolina University where she got a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Psychology. She then went on to receive her Master’s of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which allowed her the opportunity to complete her final clinical placement as a graduate clinician at Emerge! Kayla has specialized training to serve children with Autism Spectrum Disorder with high intensity needs and their families. Kayla is excited to return to Emerge as a therapist! To be able to play a vital role in giving a voice to little ones to communicate with their loved ones is why she quickly fell in love with speech-language pathology. Kayla enjoys working with children because it allows her to engage in fun therapeutic activities through play while working towards accomplishing goals that are important to the child and their families. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, and traveling!
