Feeding Therapy with Gwyneth Joyce

Thursday, November 7th | 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM

Learn about Feeding Therapy from Gwyneth Joyce, an OT in our Carrboro Clinic.

Feeding therapy at Emerge creates a safe environment for kids to develop oral motor skills such as chewing, drinking from a cup, or straw, and expanding diets, using a full body approach focusing on sensory processing for smells, textures, and tastes. This allows kids to have the strength to manage these foods, and to be able to comfortably try new foods to expand a limited diet.

We will never force a child to eat items, but instead utilize a sensory responsive lens, and engage in play within your child’s comfort level with various foods. This way the feeding relationship can be built on trust, and therefore decrease negative feelings associated with mealtimes.
