Gaming Guild – Summer 2025

BUILD EXECUTIVE FUNCTION, SOCIAL PROBLEM SOLVING & COOPERATIVE SKILLS WITH ACTIVITIES INSPIRED BY POKEMON, MINECRAFT, ROBLOX, AND MORE!

For children ages 8 – 11 years

This is a project-based program, with a focus on a shared interest – gaming. Children will have the opportunity to work on skills related to executive functioning, self-regulation, social interaction, planning, and self-concept. Example projects may include: creating live-action games or obstacle courses inspired by various video games, creating new gaming-inspired characters, creating collaborative lego creations inspired by video games, etc. Working towards a shared interest and goal helps motivate children to form strong friendships as well as learn to navigate peer negotiation.

Important FYI: We will NOT be using gaming consoles in this club. Please remind your child of this prior to the start date to avoid any surprises. The focus of our club sessions will be on building relationships and social skills within a “gaming” theme, from board games to video games to perhaps some kid-created games! For our first and second sessions, your child can expect getting-to-know-you activities.

Goals include:

  • Peer perspective taking
  • Problem solving within a group context
  • Executive functioning skills related to planning, praxis, sequencing and organization
  • Tolerating challenges during project-based activities
  • Cooperative play, teamwork and peer negotiation

Location: Cary

When:  Wednesday, 5:00-6:00pm

Dates: June 16th – August 22nd

Total Cost: $900

This club is not billed through insurance.

Children are expected to attend every session (barring illness), as the sessions build on each other and group dynamics are an important component. You will not be reimbursed for missed sessions. If you have any questions about the new Emerge Clubs changes or payment options, please refer to our FAQ!

If your child is not currently attending therapy sessions at Emerge, we will be in touch with you to set up a brief free screening to determine if this program is a good match for your child.
