Makayla decided she wanted to become an occupational therapist while at UNC Chapel Hill and received her master’s in occupational therapy from East Carolina University in 2022. She gained experience at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children in Pittsburgh, in schools and outpatient pediatric settings, and with people with brain injuries. She is passionate about creating an environment that is welcoming, motivating, and meaningful, and feels privileged to work with children and their families as they meet life’s joys and challenges. In her free time, she loves traveling,  going to sporting events and concerts, and simply being outside–whether that means going for a walk, reading a book, or eating ice cream with her favorite people.
