With so many great events happening both at Emerge and in our community, how will you keep track? Use our calendar to help discover all of the resources that Emerge and the Triangle have to offer.
Emerge hosts a variety of events at the clinic including therapist-led roundtables, parent education classes, resources fairs, and structured play-dates! This calendar will also keep our Emerge families up to date on the start of our social skills groups, and changes in our clinic operating hours.
In addition to what is happing at Emerge, you will also be able to find other activities and resources for parents and caregivers such as resource fairs, sensory-friendly nights, free family events and more!

July 13, 2024(1 event) 1:30 pm: Painting Possibilities - Adapted Art Class – When: July 13th - August 17th, Saturdays, 1:30-3:00 PM Where: Chapel Hill Community Center |120 S Estes Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 What: This in-person adapted art experience is designed for artists with diverse abilities/special needs. Elizabeth Byars, TEACCH Autism Specialist and practicing artist leads fun painting classes using inexpensive acrylic paints on thick paper. Each student will use visual supports specific to their needs. Elizabeth creates achievable painting designs for all levels using stencils, stamps, step-by-step illustrations and hand-drawn guides. Most of the time, artists can chose from several projects. They'll move at their own pace to complete art works. All artists begin with ordinary tools (sticks, cotton swabs, and toothbrushes) to learn about handling paint. As they progress, if they desire, they may try out traditional brushes and how to use them for painting as well as how to clean and store them. Students will develop skills in mixing colors, placing paint, composition, creating textures, making choices and ultimately building confidence and pride! August 2, 2024(1 event) 6:30 pm: Inclusive Friday Fun Night – When: August 2nd, 6:30-8:30 pm Where: Chapel Hill Community Center | 120 S Estes Dr, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 What: DROP IN PROGRAM, NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Come out and play and enjoy the Chapel Hill community center. Play board games, make crafts, shoot baskets in the gym, climb the climbing wall (must be 40 lbs.), and enjoy a snack. This program is for children and adults who have disabilities/special needs, their families, friends, neighbors and caretakers. Individuals who need focused attention or assistance with personal care must bring an adult. No registration required! No need to come "on time". Sneakers required for gym activities. Participants must be 40 lbs. to participate in climbing wall. Those who need supervision or assistance with personal needs must bring an adult to help.
