Lactation Services at Emerge Pediatric Therapy
Supporting Families on Their Feeding Journey
At Emerge Pediatric Therapy, we understand that feeding challenges can be overwhelming for both parents and infants. That’s why we offer comprehensive lactation support provided by our experienced occupational therapists, speech therapists and physical therapists. Our team specializes in addressing feeding and lactation concerns with a whole-body approach, helping infants and families achieve successful and stress-free feeding experiences.
Who We Help
Our lactation services support families experiencing:
- Breastfeeding & Bottle-Feeding Difficulties – Including latch issues, nipple pain, and inefficient sucking.
- Tethered Oral Tissues (Tongue & Lip Ties) – Pre- and post-frenectomy support to improve oral function.
- Oral Motor Challenges – Weak suck, difficulty coordinating suck-swallow-breathe, or excessive fatigue during feeding.
- Infant Reflux & GI Concerns – Helping with feeding strategies to minimize discomfort.
- Bottle Refusal & Feeding Transitions – Supporting infants who struggle with bottles or transitioning to solids.
- Torticollis & Body Tension Affecting Feeding – Addressing postural imbalances that impact feeding success.
Our Team Approach
Unlike traditional lactation support, our services go beyond basic latch correction. We integrate:
- Occupational Therapy – Focuses on torticollis, body tension, postural imbalances, sensory processing and oral motor function for improved feeding experiences.
- Physical Therapy – Helps with torticollis, body tension, and postural imbalances that affect feeding.
- Speech Therapy – Specializes in oral motor development, sucking patterns, and airway health to optimize feeding.
What to Expect
During a lactation therapy session, our specialists will:
- Assess oral motor function, tongue/lip movement, and feeding reflexes.
- Evaluate positioning and latch techniques to ensure optimal milk transfer.
- Provide hands-on guidance and therapeutic exercises for improved sucking strength.
- Offer personalized strategies to support your baby’s feeding needs and long-term oral development.
Whether you’re struggling with breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or early feeding transitions, our team at Emerge Pediatric Therapy is here to help. Contact us today to schedule a lactation appointment with one of our specialists!
