Katie Shepherd is a pediatric speech-language pathologist with 19 years of experience serving individuals and their families.  She has worked in private practice and hospital settings, and as a training leader for the International Council on Development and Learning. She is excited to be part of the Emerge Pediatric Therapy team, to collaborate with families, and her teammates!

She has completed DIR-Expert training in DIR Floortime and has used this model throughout her career to support and promote communication, language, and overall development.  Her special interests are speech and language development, praxis and motor planning, augmentative and alternative communication, building relationships, and the use of movement in speech and language therapy.  Katie is dedicated to understanding and meeting individuals where they are developmentally, recognizing their unique individual differences, building on their motivations, interests, and strengths, and promoting meaningful relationships.
