Kirstyn was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Appalachian State University in 2016 and her Masters of Occupational Therapy at Winston-Salem State University in 2019. Prior to joining the Emerge team, Kirstyn has worked with individuals across the lifespan, ranging from pre-kindergarten to older adults in a variety of clinical settings, which includes outpatient pediatric settings, acute care and outpatient hospital settings, and school-based settings. She has also worked in group homes for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Growing up with an older sister who is deaf has taught her the importance of promoting inclusive environments during their typical day-to-day activities and advocating for her patients wants/needs. Kirstyn is passionate about fostering a therapeutic environment that is authentic, meaningful, and motivating for the child and their family.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, exercising and finding the best sushi restaurants around!
